Olive Hummus [vegan, gf]
Here is my new Olive Hummus recipe. Yes you heard right, olives and hummus. What sounds like an unusual combination is actually a match made in heaven. With simple, fresh ingredients you can make yourself this stunning dip in no time. Healthy, vegan, and gluten free!
It is one of these days when I am a bit loo lazy to make myself full meals. When things get a bit busy and I'm often on the run, I prefer to have something in the fridge to snack on or to grab on the go.
One of my absolute favorites is an easy dip with some crunchy snacks. You know the deal: load up a bowl, sit back on you couch and munch away.
A good Hummus with bread sticks or vegetables is a good option then. I make a good bowl and am basically safe from any weak moments of snacking something less than healthy outside.
Once in a while, I start scratching my head though and think about ways how to make the Hummus experience a bit more exciting. To tell the truth, I sometimes get bored by the same flavors, and develop a craving for something new, and start experimenting.
In fact, I guess you should search to whole page using the search bar on the right for more Hummus recipes.
How to make the homemade Olive Hummus
Now, here is another of my savory creations: an amazing, simple Olive Hummus. As with all of my recipes, it is a very straightforward one. Nothing fancy about this, so everybody can make it at home.
All you need is a blender or food processor.
As a typical Hummus, it takes some chickpeas, a bit of tahini, a little spice - and, you guessed it, olives. Not only are they a Mediterranean Superfood, they also add a distinct sweet-bitter... well olivy flavor to the spread. It goes extremely well with bread sticks or hearty crackers.
After some blending it's ready.
That's it - give it a try and let me know down in the comments, on Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram what you think.
Cheers, Florian.

This sounds fantastic! I never thought to add olives in to my hummus! That's perfect and yummy!
Thank you, Rebecca! 🙂
Love this houmous and funnily enough I was given 3 tubs of olives tonight and also sent a sample of chickpeas so I think I will have to make this for lunch tomorrow:-)
I LOVE olives. Would it be too much if I drank an olive stacked dirty martini with this delicious looking olive hummus? That would (and will) be a good night for me!
It is never to much, Kelly! Cheers! 🙂
This looks fantastic. I'm a huge fan of olives and I do rather enjoy some hummus and veggies for dinner, especially in the summertime when I don't want to bothered with cooking. Thanks for sharing.
I hear you, Meghan! Right now, it's super hot here and this is exactly the only kind of dinner I can stand right now.
Anything with olives has to be good in my book so I'm sure this is fantastic! Might just have to give it a try next time I make homemade hummus.
Thanks, Judy! Try it and let me know what you think!
I think you have hit upon an excellent flavor of hummus. I am a total sucker for olives so I know I am going to love this one.
Thank you so much! 🙂 I was surprised myself about how extremely well those olives fit to the hummus flavor! That's actually the most exciting part about being creative with recipes! 😉
My family LOVES olives and would go crazy over this hummus. I think it looks perfect for Fourth of July!
Thanks! 🙂
Oh my word, now we are talking! Olives are one of my absolute favorite foods and making it into hummus is a brilliant idea. I want that whole bowl right now....for real. So gorgeous with all the olives on top as well. I love your pictures how you styled the crackers next to the hummus and I'm in love with those blue plates. Another master recipe Florian!!
That bowl didn't last long, trust me. 🙂 And those blue plates are indeed amazing, Brandi. I'm so glad I found them during one of my recent strolls through the shops!
I find myself snacking more in the summer because I do not want to put the stove on and heat up the house 🙂 This sounds great! My husband is an olive lover so I bet he would love it!
Yes, it is perfect for snacking and so easy to make! Glad you and your husband like it, Kacey!
Olive is one of my favorite hummus flavors! This looks divine Florian.
Thank you, Alisa! I hope you try it!
Has anyone tried making Greek Kalamata olives with hummus?
Olive Hummus is a new idea for me. I always try olive recipes. Last year, I made an olive pie and it was delicious. So, your hummus recipe is a recipe that will go into my collection. This is an awesome recipe.
Oh wow, Rini, olive pie? Will have to check your recipe sounds delicious!
I came to tell you I make a tapenade hummus and so this really looks good to me! But then I saw Rini's olive pie idea. Genius, both of these!
Glad they both appeal, Dorothy!
no joke, we had hummus and veggies for dinner tonight! ha! I make an olive hummus using kalamatas, Mmm. yours looks fantastic!
Glad you enjoy the recipe so much!
Awesome dip Florian. No one else at my house likes olives. (More for me!!!!)
Haha Allie sounds like a wonderful plan! 🙂
Hummus is one of my go to snacks/quick meals when I'm lazy. Olive are, too! Great idea to combine the two to make this lovely hummus!
Glad the recipe appeals, Julie!
