Making a vegan Bang Bang Sauce
With this recipe, I bring you the latest addition to the list of stunning sauces. It's something that I worked on some time perfecting it.
Because you know that my goal is to make my recipes delicious but also to keep them as simple as possible. I'm so happy with how this one turned out. If you ever ask yourself, where to buy Bang Bang Sauce, now you can make it.
This Bang Bang Sauce has the perfect balance of spiciness and creaminess.
Seriously I could drink it up plain, because it is so satisfying, with spot on flavors, has the right sweetness which is needed in contrast to spiciness, versatile, so straight forward, big in flavor. And on top of it really easy to make and just so satisfying.
What can I use this sauce with
Bang Bang Sauce finds a lot of uses with different types of food. You can think of sipping veggies in it, like my Whole Roasted Cauliflower, or the Zucchini Fritters.
If you are planning to bring an extra punch to potato recipes, this is an absolutely perfect combination with Potato Cakes, for example.
If you aren't vegan like me you can also use it for shrimps or meat.
What is Bang Bang Sauce Made of?
When it comes to making this homemade sauce, you will be delighted to hear that you only need four simple ingredients.
Yes, four! They are:
- Vegan mayo
- Sriracha
- Sweet chili sauce
- Maple syrup
Optionally feel free to add:
- Garlic powder
- Smoked paprika
How to make Bang Bang Sauce
To begin with, combine vegan mayo, sriracha, sweet chili sauce, maple syrup in a small bowl. Add optional garlic powder and smoked paprika. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix everything well until combined.
You don't even need a food processor or blender for this recipe. But if you would like to make it even more fancy you can use it. I simply use a wire whisk for mixing, not fancy but simple.
This sauce is also great as marinade or for any dinner, lunch, meal prep. Simply serve with baked potatoes for inspiration.
Tip to make make this Bang Bang Sauce mayo free: simply swap vegan mayo for coconut yogurt.
Leftover sauce can be stored in the fridge for one week.

I love that your sauce recipes use super simple ingredients- usually when I look for vegan sauce recipes they require a trip to the grocery store and at least $10! This one was perfect with baked potato wedges.
I'd love to make this but could I use date syrup instead of the maple syrup to make this Whole30 compliant?
Hi Beth! I haven't tried this before, so I can't vouch for precise results. But I would say why not, let me know how it goes.
How long will this sauce last in the fridge?
Hi Taylor! It will stay fresh for one week in an airtight container with a lid on top. Hope that helps.
Hi Florian,
Can this recipe be made ahead and frozen? If so, how long do you think it would last? Thanks!!
Hi Christina! I wouldn't recommend freezing, it will affect the taste and texture. Making ahead and keeping it in the fridge for a week is fine. Hope that helps.
Can vegan yogurt be used in place of the vegan mayo
Hi Linda! It can be used, but the result will be really different and not so delicious. Let me know how it works.
Delicious. Can this be frozen?
Hi Paulette! I wouldn't recommend this. Leftovers will last for one week in the fridge and can be stored properly in an airtight container with a lid on top. Hope that helps.
This is phenomenal. I made my own vegan mayo and then blended the rest in, using my blendtec. Made to go with homemade sushi. Thank you.

I have cashew can I soaked them overnight and used in placed of the vegan mayo?
Hi Patricia! You absolutely can, but the result will be different.
Can this be frozen or do you suggest to make it when needed?
Hi Louise! It can be, but it will stay fresh in the fridge for 1 week. There is plenty of time to enjoy the sauce fresh. Hope that helps and let me know what you think.
